Short stories by the new Irish writers
Abstract
Since early this century, Irish writers have been acclaimed world-wide for their short stories. But the traditional themes of such celebrated past masters as James Joyce and Liam O'Flaherty no longer hold center stage. From the 1960s onwards, feminism and other fundamental social changes have created fresh ground for a new generation of Irish writers. This selection of their richly varied, stimulating and entertaining short stories displays the flourishing state of the art in Ireland today.
